Mentor Cardinals Win Tri Match at Pine Hills

Cory Vinborg’s 1-Under Par Round Leads Cardinals at the District I Golf Site
August 31, 2010 (Hinckley, OH)—There are several golf courses the Mentor Cardinals would like to come back to and play again this year and this course is one of them. Lead by Senior Cory Vinborg, the Mentor Cardinals beat both Brunswick and North Royalton by the score of 160-166-180 at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley. Vinborg’s round of 35 included three birdies on the Par 4 second hole, and also on both Par 5’s: first on the par 5 fifth, and then again on the Par 5 seventh, where Vinborg rolled in a 14-foot putt to complete his birdie string. Mentor's Junior Allan Poe was second with a 39, followed by Brunswick Joey Bachman with a 40. With the tri-match wins today, the Mentor Cardinals moved to 8-0 overall, 6-0 in the LEL.
And the Cardinals will be in action again next weekend at the Kent Roosevelt Invitational played at Oak Knolls Golf Course on Friday and at Twin Lakes Country Club on Saturday. Complete results for today’s tri-match are listed below:

Cory Vinborg Leads Cardinals at Highland Park
Breaking News: Mentor Cardinals Win Twice, August 24, 2010 (Beachwood, OH)-- Senior Cory Vinborg shot even Par 35 on the front nine on Highland's Red Nine to lead the Mentor Cardinals to victory over both Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights in an LEL Triangular match. The Cardinals shot 152 as a team and Seniors Alex Urbanscik and Joe Hess each carded 3-0ver par rounds of 38. Senior Adam Way completed the scoring for the Cards with a 41. The Cardinals outdistanced Shaker Heights by 16 strokes, Cleveland Heights finished third. The Cardinals move to 6-0 in the LEL and they are in action again next Tuesday at Pine Hills against Brunswick and North Royalton. |

Garret Greahling leads Mentor JV's
Thursday, August 18, 2010 (Mentor, OH)--Mentor's sophomore Garret Greahling finished strong with a 41 and closed out his 18-hole round with an 85 to lead the Mentor Cardinals to a 7th place finish in the City of Mentor Cardinal Classic at Black Brook Golf Course on Thursday. Sophomore Brandon Kasberg followed up with a nice 42 on his front nine and finished up with an 89. Aurora High School won the tournament with a 323 team score and the complete 14-team field scores along with the Mentor individual scores are listed below:

Cardinals close fast at Mentor Invitational
Tuesday, August 17, 2010 (Highland Heights, OH)--Oh, for those precious rounds in the seventies, Senior Joe Hess, saved the day for the Cardinals and closed fast with a fine round of 79 and helped the Cardinals leap frog ahead of several teams and into a fifth place finish at the 2010 Mentor Invitational played at the Stonewater Golf Club. Hess' 79 lead the Cardinals for the day and he was followed closely by Senior Cory Vinborg with an 81. Mentor's complete scoring is listed below as well as the team standings for today's sixteen team field.

Cardinals Steady Performers Propel Mentor over Euclid

Friday, August 20, 2010 (Euclid, OH)--Consistent play are keys to any victory and the Cardinals proved it again today beating Euclid 301-368 in an LEL dual match at Euclid. Mentor won both matches on the front and back nines at Briardale Greens with Senior Cory Vinborg leading the Cardinals with a 3-over par 73. And for the second day in a row the Cardinals top four golfers all finished in the 70's. Following Vinborg was Junior Allan Poe 74; Senior Joe Hess 76; and Senior Alex Urbanscik completed the scoring for Mentor with a 79. With the victories over Euclid today the Cardinals moved to a quick 4-0 start in the LEL. And the Cardinals will be in action again on Tuesday with a triangular match against Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights at Highland Park in Beachwood.
